About Gio Studio

Working as a decorative artisan/painter in Lubbock, Texas, for the past twenty years, Ruth has had the chance to work in different mediums of our craft. She also has had the pleasure of working in a variety of places! She has done work all over Texas, New Mexico, as well as Dongguan, China, and Beijing, China.

Gio Studio works mostly in water-based products, both for health and environmental issues. We are a small company, run by Ruth and her son, Jeremy Giovannetti. We have two part-time employees, Wendy Lavo, and Tina Holm that we couldn't do without.

Ruth recently has become a beloved instructor within the world of distressed mirrors. Through an extensive process of trial error, Ruth has developed a way around the frustrating aspect of removing the backing of commercial mirrors, by simply avoiding it altogether. Since Ruth started working with this technique, she has dramatically cut down on her costs, and now approximately 1/3 of her business has become hand silvering distressed mirrors.
